To say that Super Mario 3D All-Stars<\/strong><\/a> has the potential to be one of this year’s biggest games would be a pretty obvious statement, but it really, really<\/em> does.<\/p>\n

The game was only announced last Thursday, so four days ago as this article goes live, but it’s already become the second-best-selling game of 2020 at major retailer, Amazon<\/a>. Pre-orders for the title are so strong on Amazon’s main US site that only Animal Crossing: New Horizons<\/strong><\/a> has sold more copies this year, which is pretty hard to believe.<\/p>\n

It means that – on Amazon at least – the game has already outsold The Last of Us 2<\/strong> and Paper Mario: The Origami King<\/strong><\/a>, as well as beating this year’s totals for the likes of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe<\/strong><\/a> and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild<\/strong><\/a>. And all of that in just four days of pre-orders.<\/p>\n

It’s doing well in other countries, too; on Amazon’s UK site<\/a>, the game is already the seventh-best-seller of the year. Animal Crossing tops that list, too, with The Last of Us 2 and Minecraft<\/strong><\/a> close behind.<\/p>\n

Part of this early success may be down to the fact that the game is a limited-time release<\/a>; if you don’t buy a copy by 31st March, you won’t get one. Incidentally, you can pre-order a copy for yourself right here<\/a> if you’re interested.<\/p>\n
