Update (Sun 23rd Aug, 2020 04:45 BST):<\/strong> Jeff Grubb has seen and heard all the excitement online – including our own story here at Nintendo Life – and has asked everyone to “please tone down the expectations”.<\/p>\n

In some follow-up messages over on Twitter<\/a>, he said it was “weird” that August falls on a Friday and isn’t “confident at all” it will be a “general” Nintendo Direct – further stating how it will probably<\/em> be something else. If this is the case, expect a “bigger event soon after” presumably in September.<\/p>\n

“It’s weird that August 28 is a Friday, so I’m not confident at all that’s a general Direct. It could be any number of things. But do expect a Direct equivalent by the middle of September.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

“If I had to bet, this thing next week is probably something else. So please tone down the expectations. And then if it is a general, we can all be pleasantly surprised. But to repeat myself for the sake of clarity: I expect a bigger event soon after.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

When might a Direct be taking place, you ask? According to VentureBeat’s industry insider, Jeff Grubb – who has a proven track record<\/a> – there’s apparently a good chance of Nintendo airing its next broadcast on 28th August (that’s next week).<\/p>\n

Here’s what Jeff had to say on the most recent episode of GamesBeat Decides<\/a>:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve heard a few things and I think there\u2019s a strong possibility that there is a Nintendo Direct next week, on Friday [the 28th]. That\u2019s the date I\u2019ve heard.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
