It&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2019\/08\/feature_has_a_decades-old_super_mario_64_mystery_finally_been_cleared_up\">one of those gaming myths<\/a> that has become legend over time, but despite years of searching, nobody has ever got their hands on the sacred artefact of the gods.<\/p>\n<p>However, dataminers working on the recently (and illegally) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2020\/07\/n64_prototypes_and_source_code_reportedly_leaked_-_super_mario_64_zelda_ocarina_of_time_and_more\">leaked Nintendo development materials<\/a> have uncovered another nugget of information that may shed some light on this potent urban legend.<\/p>\n<p>As detailed by <a href=\"https:\/\/gamingreinvented.com\/news\/the-triforce-might-have-finally-been-found-in-the-legend-of-zelda-ocarina-of-time\/\">Gaming Reinvented<\/a>, dataminer MrCheeze_ <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MrCheeze_\/status\/1293713114886811648?s=20\">on Twitter<\/a> has uncovered an image in a folder that clearly shows the Triforce icon. The data was found close to the image data for the medallions that Link collects in the game, and it&#8217;s suggested that the name of the file may indicate Nintendo&#8217;s intention at some point during development for the divine trinket to be obtainable:<\/p>\n<aside class=\"object object-tweet\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" align=\"center\" readability=\"5.751404494382\"><p><span lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\" readability=\"6.3913043478261\">Oh!! Here&#8217;s something VERY interesting.<\/p>\n<p>The icons for the six medallions here are internally named &#8220;h_24_seal_1-6&#8243;&#8230; but sitting leftover in another folder is another image, &#8220;h_32_seal_7&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Open it up and you get&#8230; a Triforce that fits perfectly on the Quest Status screen! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/npkvDmUDYn\">pic.twitter.com\/npkvDmUDYn<\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/span>\u2014 \u3060\u3044\u3057\u3047\u3093\u3057\u3047\u3044 (@MrCheeze_) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MrCheeze_\/status\/1293713114886811648?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 13, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/aside>\n<p>However, before we all go throwing our tinfoil hats in the air like it&#8217;s graduation day at Conspiracy High, it should be noted that the file holds no colour data and that the icon looks almost identical to the final in-game &#8221;carved&#8217; version found in the pause menu, as noted by Mr Cheeze:<\/p>\n<aside class=\"object object-tweet\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" align=\"center\"><p><span lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">To be clear, all we know for sure is that the asset exists, and what its filename is. Here&#8217;s a more skeptical take on its meaning.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/CQap3tVt6n\">https:\/\/t.co\/CQap3tVt6n<\/a><\/span>\u2014 \u3060\u3044\u3057\u3047\u3093\u3057\u3047\u3044 (@MrCheeze_) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MrCheeze_\/status\/1293747929015111682?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 13, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/aside>\n<p>Elsewhere, MrCheeze notes the names of extra elemental arrows not present in the final game, including <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MrCheeze_\/status\/1287442268119543809?s=20\">&#8216;Dark&#8217; and &#8216;Soul&#8217; arrows<\/a> (yep!), and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MrCheeze_\/status\/1287429509839499266?s=20\">also points out<\/a> that the internal dev name for the Spirit Temple was the &#8220;Giant Evil God&#8221; dungeon.<\/p>\n<p><em>So, is this Triforce business some great and grand revelation of the truth, or a bit of a stretch? We&#8217;ve definitely seen some fascinating discoveries over the past few weeks, even if some had been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2009\/06\/luigi_was_in_super_mario_64\">confirmed by the developers years ago<\/a>.
