As part of this update, Epic has also permanently <a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.epicgames.com\/fortnite\/en-US\/news\/the-fortnite-mega-drop-permanent-discounts-up-to-20-percent\">reduced the price of V-Bucks and real money purchases<\/a> on all systems including the Nintendo Switch:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"11\">\n<p>Starting today, any V-Bucks or real-money offers you purchase on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Mac are now discounted by up to 20%. You don\u2019t need to do anything!<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote readability=\"7\">\n<p>This isn\u2019t a sale\u2026 these are new discount prices available anytime! We\u2019re excited to pass along these savings to you and will continue to look for additional ways to bring value to all Fortnite players.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Since this update was rolled out, Fortnite has now been removed from the App Store and also Google Play for violating the terms of service.<\/p>\n<p>Epic is asking gamers to free the game using the social media hashtag #FreeFortnite, and is using a <em>Nineteen Eighty-Four<\/em> style video to spread the word &#8211; which also happens to be a parody of an old <a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/VtvjbmoDx-I\">Apple Mac commercial<\/a>. Take a look below:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"5\">\n<p>Join the fight and stop 2020 from becoming &#8220;1984&#8221;.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<aside class=\"object object-youtube\"><\/aside>\n<p>Epic explained the situation a little more in a <a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.epicgames.com\/fortnite\/en-US\/news\/freefortnite\">separate post<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"11\">\n<p>Apple has blocked Fortnite from the App Store, removing everyone\u2019s ability to install and update the game on iOS devices, while instructing Epic to \u201cremove the \u2018Epic direct payment\u2019 feature\u201d. Apple is keeping prices high so they can collect 30% of your payments, and is blocking Fortnite in order to prevent Epic from passing on the savings from direct payments to you!<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Although the game has been removed from Google Play, it remains available on Android <a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2020\/8\/13\/21368079\/fortnite-epic-android-banned-google-play-app-store-rule-violation\">according to Google<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"11\">\n<p>The open Android ecosystem lets developers distribute apps through multiple app stores. For game developers who choose to use the Play Store, we have consistent policies that are fair to developers and keep the store safe for users. While Fortnite remains available on Android, we can no longer make it available on Play because it violates our policies. However, we welcome the opportunity to continue our discussions with Epic and bring Fortnite back to Google Play.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Update:<\/strong> Epic has reportedly taken <a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2020\/8\/13\/21368363\/epic-google-fortnite-lawsuit-antitrust-app-play-store-apple-removal\">similar legal action<\/a> against Google.<\/p>\n<p>Once again, the main takeaway for Switch owners is that the savings on V-Bucks or real-money offers &#8211; discounted by up to 20% &#8211; are here to stay.
