{"id":114483,"date":"2020-06-22T21:35:00","date_gmt":"2020-06-22T21:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/365282"},"modified":"2020-06-22T21:35:00","modified_gmt":"2020-06-22T21:35:00","slug":"lone-echo-developer-ready-at-dawn-acquired-by-facebook","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sickgaming.net\/blog\/2020\/06\/22\/lone-echo-developer-ready-at-dawn-acquired-by-facebook\/","title":{"rendered":"Lone Echo developer Ready at Dawn acquired by Facebook"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>The Order: 1886<\/em> and <em>Lone Echo<\/em> developer Ready at Dawn has been acquired by Facebook for an undisclosed sum, and now joins the company\u2019s Oculus Studios brand.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oculus.com\/blog\/welcoming-ready-at-dawn-to-facebook\/\">blog post announcing the deal<\/a>, Oculus notes that Ready at Dawn\u2019s recent projects have shown a penchant for creating virtual reality games, and praises the studio\u2019s unique approach to narrative and locomotion in recent VR games like the Lone Echo, Echo Arena, Echo Combat, and the yet-in-development Lone Echo II.<\/p>\n<p>While the acquisition brings Ready at Dawn into the Oculus\u2019 network of VR-minded teams, Ready at Dawn and all of the devs it employs will continue to work from their existing locations but \u201cwith the full support of Facebook and the Oculus Studios team behind them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Acquisitions have played a growing part in Facebook\u2019s recent VR plans, with the company nothing in that Oculus blog post that it is \u201cexploring many ways to accelerate VR, and we have awesome and innovative plans for the next few years of gaming.\u201d Recently, Facebook made a similar deal to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/358722\/Facebook_acquires_Asgards_Wrath_dev_Sanzaru_Games.php\">acquire Asgard\u2019s Wrath dev Sanzaru Games<\/a>&nbsp;back in February.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Order: 1886 and Lone Echo developer Ready at Dawn has been acquired by Facebook for an undisclosed sum, and now joins the company\u2019s Oculus Studios brand.
