{"id":112649,"date":"2020-05-08T13:45:38","date_gmt":"2020-05-08T13:45:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gamefromscratch.com\/post.aspx?id=5981ea2f-df6a-494c-bd12-39ed87f8b203"},"modified":"2020-05-08T13:45:38","modified_gmt":"2020-05-08T13:45:38","slug":"rider-for-godot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sickgaming.net\/blog\/2020\/05\/08\/rider-for-godot\/","title":{"rendered":"Rider For Godot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday we talked about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamefromscratch.com\/post\/2020\/05\/07\/Rider-For-Unreal-Engine.aspx\">Rider for Unreal Engine<\/a>, but did you also know that Rider can be used to develop Godot games as well?<\/p>\n<p>There are a few things you are going to need to get started.&nbsp; First off obviously is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jetbrains.com\/rider\/\">JetBrain\u2019s Rider<\/a>, which is available with in a 30 day free trial.&nbsp; However if <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jetbrains.com\/community\/education\/#students\">you are a student<\/a> or are an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jetbrains.com\/community\/opensource\/#support\">open source contributor<\/a> there are free licenses available.<\/p>\n<p>Next you are going to need to download and install the <a href=\"https:\/\/plugins.jetbrains.com\/plugin\/13882-godot-support\">Godot plugin<\/a> from the JetBrains plugin repository.&nbsp; Simply click the blue Get button to download the required zip file.&nbsp; By the way, there is also a community contributed GDScript plugin <a href=\"https:\/\/plugins.jetbrains.com\/plugin\/13107-gdscript\">available here<\/a>, but that is not what we will be covering today.<\/p>\n<p>To install the plugin simply select File-&gt;Settings, locate the Plugins option on the left, then click the Gear icon and select Install Plugin from Disk\u2026<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamefromscratch.com\/image.axd?picture=image_3504.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"766\" height=\"172\" title=\"image\" alt=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sickgaming.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/rider-for-godot.png\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then select the just downloaded zip file.&nbsp; This will now required a restart of the IDE.&nbsp; You now have Godot support in Rider.<\/p>\n<p>In Godot you do need to enable Mono debugging however.&nbsp; This is available under Project-&gt;Project Settings, then on the left hand side locate Mono-&gt;Debugger Agent, then turn on Wait for Debugger.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamefromscratch.com\/image.axd?picture=image_3505.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"903\" height=\"327\" title=\"image\" alt=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sickgaming.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/rider-for-godot-1.png\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can see the entire process in action in the <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/N4M5eV982n0\">video<\/a> below.&nbsp; If you Rider isn\u2019t your IDE of choice, perhaps you want to check out using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Do0YZocTu80\">Visual Studio Code with Godot<\/a> instead.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"853\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/N4M5eV982n0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\">[embedded content]<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p class=\"under\"> <span class=\"categories\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamefromscratch.com\/category\/GameDev-News.aspx\">GameDev News<\/a><\/span> <span class=\"tags\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamefromscratch.com\/?tag=\/Applications\" rel=\"tag\">Applications<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamefromscratch.com\/?tag=\/Godot\" rel=\"tag\">Godot<\/a><\/span> <\/p>\n<hr>\n<p> <!--\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!- - google_ad_client = \"ca-pub-5156240514307514\"; \/* GFS 720 Post above Comments *\/ google_ad_slot = \"5626844176\"; google_ad_width = 728; google_ad_height = 90; \/\/- ->\n<\/script>\n--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday we talked about Rider for Unreal Engine, but did you also know that Rider can be used to develop Godot games as well?
