According to video game analyst <a data-focusable=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MatPiscatella\" role=\"link\">Mat Piscatella<\/a>, all three major hardware platforms experienced declines when compared to this time in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Software sales were also down by 31 percent year-on-year to $311 million, with Piscatella blaming the fall on a weaker slate of new games in January 2020.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a class=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.pushsquare.com\/games\/ps4\/dragon_ball_z_kakarot\">Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot<\/a><\/strong> was January&#8217;s best-selling game, while <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/nintendo-switch\/ring_fit_adventure\">Ring Fit Adventure<\/a><\/strong> jumped to 9th place \u2013 its highest ranking in North America to date.
