\u201cReborn,\u201d said Niruul. \u201cLoosed from our fetters.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI know your purpose,\u201d said Amtec, who was the most beloved. She trembled in their massive presence. The three oldest sisters had begun the process of joining, known only to them through ancient texts of the mind, never accomplished in recent memory. It was a permanent metaconcert; an unbreakable bond of self-dissolution. Already their minds had begun to merge, and Amtec could see them being drawn closer, as if by some magnetic force in their bones. <\/p>\n

Amtec nodded. Her eye darted from sister to sister, now both more foreign and more familiar, as each sister was each other sister, somehow, combined. <\/p>\n

\u201cTogether, we are stronger,\u201d said Tazaroc. <\/p>\n

\u201cThan any threat that may challenge us,\u201d said Ozletc. \u201cBut should we fail\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cUnlikely though it is,\u201d said Tazaroc.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou must succeed where we could not,\u201d said Ozletc. \u201cAnd so, you will join with us\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIn mind,\u201d said Niruul.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut not in body,\u201d said Tazaroc.<\/p>\n

Already, Amtec could feel the power of their minds\u2014their mind\u2014settle against the edges of her own like a heavy, flat stone. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd so our failure,\u201d said Niruul.<\/p>\n

\u201cWill be your failure,\u201d said Ozletc.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd our revenge,\u201d said Tazaroc.<\/p>\n

\u201cWill be your revenge,\u201d said Ozletc.<\/p>\n

Amtec had hoped since the beginning to join her sister in mind and body on the battlefield of time. She had thought, today, they would ask. But she knew that if she felt it too keenly, they would taste her disappointment, and she craved their love.<\/p>\n
