You can see how the others stack up in the chart below:<\/p>\n<figure class=\"picture strip\"><\/figure>\n<p>According to Sensor Tower, 54% of the $1 billion total was generated in Nintendo&#8217;s home country of Japan (so that&#8217;s $581 million); the US has the second-highest player-spending total with 29% ($316 million). In fact, only Mario Kart Tour and Super Mario Run have bucked this trend by generating more money in the US than Japan; all other games have performed better in the latter.<\/p>\n<p><em>So, the next time someone asks you why Nintendo makes games on smartphones these days, you know where to point them.
