Back in October last year, we found out<\/a> the New York Videogame Critics Circle would honour Nintendo of America’s former president Reggie Fils-Aim\u00e9 at the 9th annual New York Game Awards Ceremony. He’ll be receiving the Andrew Yoon Legend Award, confirming his ‘legend’ status.<\/p>\n

Now, the games up for nomination have been revealed. The ceremony itself takes place at the SVA Theatre in New York City on 21st January. The Nintendo highlight is Luigi’s Mansion 3<\/a><\/strong> being nominated for best game of the year. It’s up against titles such as The Outer Worlds<\/a><\/strong>, The Game Awards 2019 winner Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice<\/strong>, Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding<\/strong> and the indie hit, Disco Elysium<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

There are a total of four Nintendo titles up for nomination in the kids category. These games include Tetris 99<\/a><\/strong>, Super Mario Maker 2<\/a><\/strong>, Pok\u00e9mon Sword and Shield<\/a><\/strong> and Luigi’s Mansion 3. In the best-augmented reality and virtual reality category, the Labo VR kit<\/a><\/strong> is representing the Switch. On the indie front, Untitled Goose Game<\/a><\/strong> is in with a chance to win the best indie game award and Pok\u00e9mon Sword and Shield has also received a nomination for best music.<\/p>\n

One of the more interesting categories is the best remake award, filled with games like The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening<\/a><\/strong>, Katamari Damacy Reroll<\/a><\/strong>, Mario & Luigi: Bowser\u2019s Inside Story + Bowser Jr.\u2019s Journey<\/a><\/strong> and Resident Evil 2<\/strong>.
