According to the NPD Group&#8217;s PlayerPulse surveys, more than 40% of Switch owners located in the US own a PlayStation 4 and\/or an Xbox One.<\/p>\n<p>Piscatella goes onto explain how the Nintendo Switch &#8220;isn&#8217;t a substitute&#8221; to either system and is actually supplemental. Below is his full explanation via Twitter:<\/p>\n<aside class=\"object object-tweet\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><p><span lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">For clarity, supplemental in this context means supplemental purchase (additive\/incremental). This term does not refer to player preference.<\/span>\u2014 Mat Piscatella (@MatPiscatella) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MatPiscatella\/status\/1212847139107131392?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 2, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/aside>\n<p>He also notes how he doesn&#8217;t see next-generation hardware launches having a meaningful impact on Switch sales in 2020. Piscatella recently elaborated on the current sales momentum of the Switch, in an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2020\/01\/analysts_agree_that_switch_will_be_king_in_2020_less_sure_about_the_switch_pro\">interview<\/a> with GamesIndustry.biz:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Nintendo Switch will remain on top in the hardware space, perhaps into 2022.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>However, he did go onto mention how the industry, in general, could see a hardware sales decline, as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One end their life cycles.
