Melee<\/a><\/strong> on the GameCube. It took the series to new heights, thanks to its faster and frantic gameplay and featured more characters and modes than its predecessor. To this day, it&#8217;s still a hit at major tournaments.<\/p>\n<p>Now, to kick-off the weekly events this year in <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/nintendo-switch\/super_smash_bros_ultimate\">Super Smash Bros. Ultimate<\/a><\/strong>, Nintendo is paying tribute to Melee with a special tournament. It starts today and will run until 6th January, and will <em>only<\/em> include fighters, stages, and items from the GameCube release.
