Back in the late ’90s, when the Pok\u00e9mon craze had reached an all-time high, Pok\u00e9mon: The First Movie<\/em> – Mewtwo Strikes Back<\/em> was released in cinemas. The screenwriter, Takeshi Shudo \u2013 who passed away in 2010 \u2013 has now been recognised for his efforts, with the Tokyo Anime Award Festival announcing he’ll be receiving a posthumous lifetime achievement anime award.<\/p>\n

Takeshi was also the lead writer of the Pok\u00e9mon anime series from the show’s beginning in 1997 up until 2002. Shudo worked on plenty of other anime such as GoShogun<\/em> but is best remembered for his work on the Pok\u00e9mon series over the years.<\/p>\n

Hisao Shirai \u2013 who passed away earlier this year \u2013 and was Director of Photography on many of the Pok\u00e9mon films and anime over the years has also received a lifetime achievement anime award. Here is the full list of recipients, courtesy of Crunchyroll<\/a>:<\/p>\n

  • Michio Mamiya, Composer, Gauche the Cellist<\/em>, Grave of the Fireflies<\/em><\/li>\n
  • Masako Ikeda, Voice Actor, Maetel in Galaxy Express 999<\/em>, Sharon in Space Brothers<\/em><\/li>\n
  • Seiki Co., Ltd., for precision filming equipment used in animation, the company is dissolved.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
