This data comes from online retailers and Niko&#8217;s own market model.<\/p>\n<p>Online retailer JD.com revealed it sold more than 20,000 units via its website, with 47% of buyers aged between 16-25. TMall reportedly sold around 10,000 units before 10am, and 75% of its buyers were under the age of 30. The Switch is now on-track to reach Niko&#8217;s initial forecast of 100,000 units sold in China before the end of this year, and the system is expected to surpass PlayStation 4 sales in China by 2022 (covering both legal and grey market sales).<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, Nintendo shares <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2019\/12\/nintendo_shares_reach_19_month_high_as_switch_launches_in_china\">reached<\/a> a 19 month high following the launch of the Switch in mainland China.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><strong>Original Story &#8211; Fri 6th Dec, 2019 02:00 GMT:<\/strong> Earlier this week, Nintendo and its partner Tencent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2019\/12\/nintendo_switch_to_officially_launch_in_china_next_week\">announced<\/a> the Switch would launch in mainland China next week on 10th December. Now, one of the biggest e-commerce sites in China \u2013 <a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jd.com\/?ds_rl=1272146&amp;cu=true&amp;utm_source=google-search&amp;utm_medium=cpc&amp;utm_campaign=t_262767352_googlesearch&amp;utm_term=kwd-300150634722_0_029225601f244330968621649df96d2e\">JD.com<\/a> \u2013 has revealed how many consoles were pre-ordered not long after this announcement.<\/p>\n<p>According to the data shared by JD (via <a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/chinesenintendo\/status\/1202123728814886912\">Chinese Nintendo<\/a>), the figure is more than 50,000 units. The Switch with blue \/ red neon Joy-Con has 27,631 pre-orders and the grey unit is out in front with 27,735 pre-orders so far (thanks, <a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/gameonze.com\/more-than-50000-official-nintendo-switch-consoles-have-already-been-pre-ordered-in-china-1\/\">Gameonze<\/a>).<\/p>\n<aside class=\"gallery\">\n<div class=\"col\"><a title=\"Order 1\" href=\"http:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/9301801756c2b\/order-1.original.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/static.nintendolife.com\/blank.gif\" data-original=\"http:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/9301801756c2b\/order-1.original.jpg\" alt=\"Order 1\"><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"col\"><a title=\"Order 2\" href=\"http:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/d24ca7686f76f\/order-2.original.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/static.nintendolife.com\/blank.gif\" data-original=\"http:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/d24ca7686f76f\/order-2.original.jpg\" alt=\"Order 2\"><\/a><\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<p><a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/nikopartners.com\/tencent-to-bring-nintendo-switch-to-china-on-december-10-2019\/\">Niko Partners<\/a> added to this \u2013 noting how 80,000 people in China had &#8220;expressed interest&#8221; in pre-ordering the Switch across JD.com and <a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tmall.com\/\">TMall<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the launch date reveal for the Switch in China, Tencent officials said they didn&#8217;t believe the system would sell as well in this country as it had in other markets.
