More than 3.5 million public votes were cast to determine the winners across 19 categories.<\/p>\n<p>On the Switch front, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/nintendo-switch\/super_smash_bros_ultimate\">Super Smash Bros. Ultimate<\/a><\/strong> took out the Nintendo game of the year. Perhaps more impressively, was when House House \u2013 the Australian-based developer who created the charming and humorous <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/switch-eshop\/untitled_goose_game\">Untitled Goose Game<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 received the Breakthrough Award. <a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gamesradar.com\/au\/untitled-goose-game-breakthrough-golden-joystick-2019\/\">Via GamesRadar<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The award recognises a studio, developer, or person in the industry who has had a year to remember. House House \u2014 whose previous game Push Me, Pull You was released in 2016 \u2014 clinched the award thanks to the enduring popularity of its stealth puzzle gem, Untitled Goose Game.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/nintendo-switch\/minecraft\">Minecraft<\/a><\/strong> won the &#8216;Still Playing Award&#8217; and Epic&#8217;s battle royale <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/games\/switch-eshop\/fortnite\">Fortnite<\/a><\/strong> won eSports game of the year. Epic Games also won the studio of the year award.<\/p>\n<p>The former head of Sega AM2 Yu Suzuki \u2013 who worked on many of the company&#8217;s arcade titles over the years \u2013 was recognised with a lifetime achievement award, and the ultimate game of the year went to Capcom&#8217;s <strong>Resident Evil 2<\/strong> remake, available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.<\/p>\n<p>Below is the full list of winners:<\/p>\n<hr>\n<ul>\n<li>Best Storytelling: Days Gone<\/li>\n<li>Best Multiplayer Game in partnership with Servers and Gameye: Apex Legends<\/li>\n<li>Still Playing Award: Minecraft<\/li>\n<li>Best Visual Design: Devil May Cry 5<\/li>\n<li>Best Indie Game: Outer Wilds<\/li>\n<li>Esports Game of the Year in partnership with Corsair: Fortnite<\/li>\n<li>Best Audio: Resident Evil 2<\/li>\n<li>Best Game Expansion: GTA Online &#8211; Diamond Casino Update<\/li>\n<li>Best VR \/ AR Game: Beat Saber<\/li>\n<li>Best Gaming Hardware: Nvidia 20-series Super graphics cards<\/li>\n<li>Best Performer: Logan Marshall-Green<\/li>\n<li>Studio of the Year: Epic Games<\/li>\n<li>Best New Streamer \/ Broadcaster: Ewok<\/li>\n<li>Breakthrough Award: Untitled Goose Game, House House<\/li>\n<li>Mobile Game of the Year: BTS World<\/li>\n<li>Outstanding Contribution: Life is Strange<\/li>\n<li>PC Game of the Year in partnership with Magic: The Gathering Arena: World of Warcraft Classic<\/li>\n<li>PlayStation Game of the Year: Days Gone<\/li>\n<li>Xbox Game of the Year: Gears 5<\/li>\n<li>Nintendo Game of the Year: Super Smash Bros.
