We do however know that once the tickets go live, <strong>they will only be available until Saturday November 2 2019 at 17:00<\/strong> in your local time zone.<\/p>\n<p>Once the pass is purchased, to receive the \u2018A Colossal Discovery\u2019 Special Research quest, <strong>you must open Pok\u00e9mon GO between Saturday, November 2 2019 from 11:00 to 19:00 local time.<\/strong> As with all Special Research quests, <strong>you can take as long as you want to complete the \u2019A Colossal Discovery\u2019 story<\/strong>, though bear in mind that specific tasks may be more difficult as changes are made to the game through the year.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"how-much-does-the-la-colossal-discoveryr-pass-cost-and-how-do-i-buy-it\">How Much Does the \u2018A Colossal Discovery\u2019 Pass Cost and How Do I Buy It?<\/h2>\n<p><strong>The ticket will be priced at $7.99\/\u00a37.99<\/strong> and for the first time, must be purchased with real world currency (not the in-game currency \u2013 Pok\u00e9coins \u2013 which are partly available for free).<\/p>\n<p><strong>The tickets are not currently live, but will appear in the in-game shop<\/strong>. In the main Pok\u00e9-ball menu, hit \u2018shop\u2019 and scroll to find the ticket (once live).<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"what-does-your-la-colossal-discoveryr-ticket-get-you\">What Does Your \u2018A Colossal Discovery\u2019 Ticket Get You?<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"picture strip\"><a title=\"Regigigas Official Event Banner\" href=\"http:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/e38adc9c287a9\/regigigas-official-event-banner.original.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/static.nintendolife.com\/blank.gif\" data-original=\"http:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/e38adc9c287a9\/regigigas-official-event-banner.900x.jpg\" alt=\"Regigigas Official Event Banner\"><\/a><\/figure>\n<h3 id=\"pass-exclusive-pokemon-release-regigigas\">Pass Exclusive Pok\u00e9mon Release: Regigigas<\/h3>\n<p>The headline attraction of the \u2018A Colossal Discovery\u2019 pass is <strong>the release of Sinnoh legendary Regigigas through a special research quest<\/strong>. This quest will be similar to those for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2018\/09\/guide_pokemon_go_mew_-_a_mythical_discovery_special_research_walkthrough\">Mew<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2018\/09\/guide_pokemon_go_celebi_-_a_ripple_in_time_special_research_walkthrough\">Celebi<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2019\/09\/guide_how_to_get_jirachi_in_pokemon_go_step-by-step_advice_for_completing_la_thousand-year_slumberr_special_research\">Jirachi<\/a>, aside from the fact that only those who purchase a pass will receive it.<\/p>\n<p>Regigigas (#486) is a Normal-type Pok\u00e9mon. Therefore its sole type-weakness are Fighting-type Pok\u00e9mon. It is resistant to Ghost-type attacks.<\/p>\n<p>Significantly, Niantic have confirmed that <strong>Regigigas will start appearing in the high-difficulty <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2019\/10\/guide_pokemon_go_ex_raids_-_what_they_are_and_how_to_get_an_ex_raid_pass\">EX Raid series<\/a> \u2018in November\u2019<\/strong>, meaning that there is still a <strong>free route<\/strong> to obtaining the Pok\u00e9mon (though the premium pass gets your access sooner and far more easily considering the difficulty and selection criteria of EX Raids).<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"la-colossal-discoveryr-special-research-rewards\">\u2018A Colossal Discovery\u2019 special research rewards<\/h3>\n<p>As with all story quests you will accumulate items, XP, stardust and Pok\u00e9mon encounters at each stage of the quest. See our \u2018A Colossal Discovery\u2019 Walkthrough\u2019 section for more details.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"additional-raid-passes-for-participants\">Additional Raid Passes for Participants<\/h3>\n<p>\u2018A Colossal Discovery\u2019 participants can receive up to 10 free Raid Passes when spinning Gym photo-discs for a limited period (normal rules apply in that you can only carry one at a time, but the daily limit of one free pass per spin will be relaxed).<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"free-event-details-n-november-1-to-november-4\">Free Event Details \u2013 November 1 to November 4<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"picture strip\"><a title=\"Regi Trio Event Official Banner\" href=\"http:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/b68457a100ce3\/regi-trio-event-official-banner.original.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/static.nintendolife.com\/blank.gif\" data-original=\"http:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/b68457a100ce3\/regi-trio-event-official-banner.900x.jpg\" alt=\"Regi Trio Event Official Banner\"><\/a><\/figure>\n<p>To accompany the release of \u2018A Colossal Discovery\u2019, <strong>Niantic will be running a commemorative event for all players<\/strong>, focussed around the Regi-Trio that Regigigas is considered the \u2018trio master\u2019 of. This will run from Friday, November 1 2019 at 13:00 to Monday, November 4 2019 at 13:00 PDT<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"regirock-regice-and-registeel-in-5-star-raids\">Regirock, Regice and Registeel in 5-Star Raids<\/h3>\n<p>The legendary titans, commonly called the Regi Trio or \u2018Regis\u2019 will appear for everyone to catch in 5-star raids. In the mainline games these three Pok\u00e9mon are usually involved in the process of catching Regigigas, hence their involvement in this event. Their types and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nintendolife.com\/news\/2019\/09\/pokemon_go_type_chart_advantages_and_weaknesses_explained_for_all_18_types\">type weaknesses<\/a> are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Regirock (#377) is pure Rock-type<\/strong>, and weak to Fighting, Grass, Ground, Steel and Water moves<\/li>\n<li><strong>Regice (#378) is pure Ice-type<\/strong>, and weak to Fighting, Fire, Rock and Steel moves<\/li>\n<li><strong>Regice (#379) is pure Steel-type<\/strong>, and weak to Fighting, Fire and Ground moves<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All three legendaries will also appear in shiny form for the first time.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"certain-pokemon-appearing-more-frequently-in-eggs-and-the-wild\">Certain Pok\u00e9mon Appearing More Frequently in Eggs and the Wild<\/h3>\n<p>Billed as Pok\u00e9mon that are good counters to the Regi-trio, expect to see more Geodudes, Magnemites, Swinubs, Arons and Spheals in the wild. Aerodactyl, Shuckle, Sneasel, Skarmory, Snorunt and Beldum will be hatching more frequently in eggs.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"other-perks\">Other perks:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Release of Shiny Skarmory alongside the Shiny Regis mentioned above<\/li>\n<li>2x incubator effectiveness<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"how-to-get-regigigas-in-pokemon-go-n-la-colossal-discoveryr-walkthrough\">How to Get Regigigas in Pok\u00e9mon GO \u2013 \u2018A Colossal Discovery\u2019 Walkthrough<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"picture strip\"><a title=\"Regigigas Special Avatar Pose\" href=\"http:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/d01e5dd5c3d7f\/regigigas-special-avatar-pose.original.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/static.nintendolife.com\/blank.gif\" data-original=\"http:\/\/images.nintendolife.com\/d01e5dd5c3d7f\/regigigas-special-avatar-pose.900x.jpg\" alt=\"Regigigas Special Avatar Pose\"><\/a><\/figure>\n<p>The tasks and rewards for the special research have not yet been announced, and the exact structure is unknown. <strong>We will endeavour to update this guide when more information is available<\/strong> (either from Niantic\u2019s updates or when the quest goes live).<\/p>\n<p>The idea for the pass\/event is inspired by the game\u2019s own city-based events such as GO Fest (held this year in Chicago, Dortmund and Yokohama), simply extended to a global audience. Considering this, we suspect that the \u2018A Colossal Discovery\u2019 research quest will be five steps in imitation of quests at such events.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"confirmed-rewards\">Confirmed rewards<\/h3>\n<p>Though the structure of the research walkthrough is not yet known, Niantic\u2019s press release mentioned the following rewards available from completing the research path:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Unova Stone<\/li>\n<li>A Sinnoh Stone<\/li>\n<li>An exclusive avatar pose (see image above)<\/li>\n<li>A Regigigas encounter (obviously!)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There will also be \u2018A Colossal Discovery\u2019 medal awarded in the game\u2019s achievement system.<\/p>\n<p>Please check back with us on November 2<sup>nd<\/sup> for a full walkthrough for the quest.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pok\u00e9mon GO is holding its first global premium event \u2013 a paid, ticketed event you can play anywhere in the world that will give you exclusive early and easy access to the legendary Pok\u00e9mon Regigas and a raft of other perks.
