Heartbroken Kevin Howard had been married to his wife for 12 years when he discovered she had been having an affair.<\/div>\n<div style=\"padding: 6px\">From North Carolina, U.S.A., went on to use an old law called &#8216;alienation of affection&#8217; to sue the man his now-ex wife had cheated on him with.<\/div>\n<div style=\"padding: 6px\">The &#8216;homewrecker&#8217; law allows a spouse to sue another person for &#8220;purposefully interfering with the marital relationship&#8221; and &#8216;wooing their partner away&#8217;.<\/div>\n<div style=\"padding: 6px\">Kevin said he wanted to pursue his claim to preserve the &#8220;sanctity of marriage&#8221;.<\/div>\n<div style=\"padding: 6px\">Now-divorced Kevin described how his marriage had started to struggle after 12 years, prompting him and his then wife to attend marriage counselling.<\/div>\n<div style=\"padding: 6px\">But Kevin said something &#8216;felt off&#8217;, so he hired a private detective to determine if his wife was cheating.<\/div>\n<div style=\"padding: 6px\">He went on to discover his wife was having an affair with a colleague from work who had visited their home for dinner &#8220;several times&#8221;, reports [**CNN**](https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2019\/10\/02\/us\/alienation-of-affection-laws-north-carolina-lawsuit-trnd\/index.html) .<\/div>\n<div style=\"padding: 6px\">&gt; _He said: &#8220;We spent time together &#8211; I thought this was a friend.&#8221;_<\/div>\n<div style=\"padding: 6px\">Describing the moment he learnt of her infidelity, Kevin said: &#8220;It was like someone calling you and telling you a family member had suddenly and tragically died.&#8221;<\/div>\n<div style=\"padding: 6px\">&gt; _&#8221;I filed the case because I feel it&#8217;s important people understand the sanctity of marriage is important- especially in this day and age when people question everyone&#8217;s morals and viability as a person &#8211; and the state backed me up on that.&#8221;_<\/div>\n<div style=\"padding: 6px\">If Kevin&#8217;s ex-wife&#8217;s lover is unable to immediately pay, it will go on his record as an unpaid debt.<\/div>\n<div style=\"padding: 6px\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sickgaming.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/this-man-successfully-sues-cheating-wifes-lover-for-750000-1.jpg\" \/><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A man has successfully sued his cheating wife&#8217;s lover for $750,000.
