Current plans see the exhibit debuting in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVideo games are perhaps the most important medium of the 21st century,\u201d reads a statement from The Strong\u2019s VP for exhibits Jon-Paul Dyson. \u201cJust as the novel fueled imagination in the 19th century and film and television defined the cultural narratives of the 20th century, electronic games today are rapidly driving cultural and social change. We look forward\u2014with the help of NEH\u2014to continue to tell that important story to visitors from around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Strong Museum has long showcased the history of video games and their creators <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/331033\/The_Strong_Museum_debuts_exhibit_focusing_on_women_in_the_industry.php\">through exhibits<\/a> and expansive collections of historic game development artifacts, thanks in no small part to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/297299\/The_Strong_nets_bounty_of_game_dev_artifacts_from_IF_pioneer_Scott_Adams.php\">donations of development materials<\/a> and historic finds from influential developers surrounding games like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/327165\/Archiving_Will_Wrights_early_design_notes_for_The_Sims.php\"><em>The Sims<\/em><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamasutra.com\/view\/news\/275696\/Museum_accepts_collection_of_artifacts_from_Oregon_Trail_dev_MECC.php\"><em>Oregon Trail<\/em><\/a>, and many, many more.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Strong Museum has received a $700,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, funds it plans to bring an exhibit on the influence of video games have had on cultural history to life.
